BELIEFS TRUMP SENSES
BELIEFS TRUMP SENSES
Did you know? There are 10 times more information channels flowing from your thinking brain than there is from your physical senses to your brain. What does this mean? It means that the thinking mind rules.
And what you have in mind can easily override whatever you actually see, hear and taste! Yes, taste. A recent study discovered that tasting the quality of wines were absolutely distorted by the price of the wines. Wines that were known to expensive were rated highest by the tasters. Those same wines, without a price on them, were rated just as low as the cheap wines.
The essence of this is that what you believe has more power and credibility than your sensory intuition. It seems to me that a truly intuitive person who is evaluating anything, from a hiring a person to making a decision, keeps a clear, open, non-judgmental mind. It's called the "beginner's mind," a zen concept for having a totally childlike curious innocence without prejudice and prejudgment. Armed with all sorts of beliefs that we gather through experience and even hearsay can most definitely skew pure intuition. This is not easy to do.
My intuition mantra to keep remembering is: "Open mind, open mind, never mind, no mind."

Stop the insanity to steal a slogan
Yes, how do you stop the monkey mind?
I feel I know the true self within me and to maintain that state of being I would have to give up everything and become a monk. Or maybe I am a monk and I became a regular Joe?
I don't understand how one can be over balanced to the good/right and no harm but if you tilt just a little to the left/bad then is devastation. I don't think so, a delicate balance it is but it must be maintained. But how?
Let me know. Thanks, D
